Hydrate

Without hydration, everything else in your body gets thrown out of synch. Do you know the body is composed of approximately 60% water with about 73% of that in the brain and heart? Water is a vital nutrient for life and has been referred to by ancient cultures as “lifeblood”. In addition to hydration, drinking sufficient water daily helps flush toxins from our bodies. Proper hydration is needed for cellular homeostasis and is the number one reason for chronic headaches, constipation and adrenal imbalance.

The amount of water required differs from person to person, so a good rule of thumb is to drink half your body weight in ounce of pure, clean water. For instance, if you weigh 150 pounds, you need to consume 75 ounces of water every day. As you increase your water intake, you will want to increase it incrementally as you need to give your body a chance to adapt to the change. If you go from drinking 8 ounces of water a day to 75 ounces of water the next day, you will be in the bathroom a good part of your day. Our bodies are like a sponge and when you have a dry sponge, the water just runs off and very little absorbs. I recommend you increase your water intake by 8 – 10 ounces daily until you reach your goal. It is important to drink water throughout the day rather than drinking it all at once.

Start your day with the juice of one-half of a lemon in 10 – 12 ounces of room temperature water. Lemon is a natural energizer; it hydrates and oxygenates your body so it feels revitalized and refreshed. Water with lemon provides the body with hydration, anti-oxidants and electrolytes. Lemon waters assists in balancing your PH, flushes unwanted toxins, aids in weight loss and even boosts your immune system. It also has good quantities of electrolytes such as potassium, calcium and magnesium. Lemon is a tremendous source of citrus bioflavonoid anti-oxidant phytonutrients that have been given the label Vitamin P. These nutrients charge your brain!

It is important to drink clean water to avoid taking in more toxins. I filter my water using a Berkey water filter to purify my water. You can purchase Berkey filtering systems at: www.getberkey.com/#outback. To ensure I drink my required water daily, I measure my filtered water in the morning and carry it with me in stainless steel or glass bottles wrapped in a silicone sleeve. Try to avoid bottled water as when the water gets warm or freezes it absorbs toxins from the plastic.
